Professional Background
■ Pathfinder Consulting President Carol Wyant draws on her unique experience as a national consultant and her previous professional positions to help clients nationwide. In presenting her with the President's Award, National Trust for Historic Preservation President Richard Moe commented "Because of Carol's dynamic leadership and creativity, the preservation movement is stronger and more effective than at any time in the past".
■ Carol is committed to helping sophisticated businesses and organizations as well as emerging and mid-level ones create new avenues for growth, effectiveness and visibility. She offers a wide range of services and expertise to assess current organizational strengths and weaknesses, select priorities for action, and develop a business plan to implement change. Carol has a particular expertise analyzing the most effective deployment of resources among collaborating organizations.
■ Beginning her career in commercial real estate, Carol's responsibilities included financial feasibility analysis, leasing and building management, community relations, and restoration of an art deco train station and an Italianate office building. As Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois Executive Director Carol led growth that tripled annual revenues and grew LPCI's endowment seven-fold, while increasing its effectiveness and visibility. She was a leader not only in board development, program design and fundraising, but also in bringing LPCI "to the table" with the business and political leadership of Chicago and Illinois.
■ As the Director of Statewide Partnerships for the National Trust for Historic Preservation Carol led a successful nationwide program energizing and strengthening statewide nonprofit preservation organizations throughout the United States. She developed a capacity building process for unstaffed statewides culminating in the hire of fulltime professional staff. During her tenure the number of staffed statewides grew from 17-36 nationwide.
